New Awning and Kitchen Upgrade for Mt Gravatt Men’s Shed
Federal Member for Bonner Ross Vasta today visited Mt Gravatt Men’s Shed to inspect the progress of the brand new awning and kitchen upgrade made possible by federal government funding.
Mr Vasta secured more than $7,400 as part of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme to enable the building of two new verandas on the shed.
The new awnings will enable the shed members to work outside during the hotter months and also allow for additional outside eating areas for the men to enjoy.
The awnings have been mapped out and are waiting for the concrete to be poured in the coming weeks.
Men’s shed President Peter Lindsay says the awning will be put to good use by all of the members.
“We have over 300 members now, with an average of five new members joining each month so workspace is at an all-time premium within the sheds.
“This funding from Mr Vasta will enable members to do some of their work outside under the new verandas and free up some more space for new members so that we can welcome even more local men to join our group.”
Mr Vasta said he is a big supporter of men’s sheds and the wonderful work they do within the community.
“Mt Gravatt men’s shed is vital for the health and wellbeing of so many local men and their families. I’m pleased to have been able to secure this funding for the local group so that they can continue to grow and help many more men in the future.”
